About Christine Wilford
A lifelong interest in design and a growing passion for plants and gardens led me to study garden design professionally at the Garden Design School in Surrey.
I qualified in 2007 with Distinction and have established the garden design practice GreenArden design in 2008.
Since embarking on the journey of creating gardens I have become more and more passionate about planting design and creating environments for people to enjoy, relax and de-stress from our daily life challenges.
I am a fully registered member of the Society of Garden Designers ( SGD), the professional body of garden designers in the UK.
My professional background before starting garden design is as an Architect qualifying in 1987 in Hamburg, Germany. Subsequently I have worked for several architectural practises in Hamburg until I established my own architectural practice in 1992. As a result, a wealth of experience in the design process, project management skills and knowledge of the construction process compliment my passion for garden and landscape design.
Since 2019 I hold the position of Chair of the Surrey Garden Design Group, a collaborative networking group for professionals and non-professionals within the garden and landscape industry.
”Christine is very creative and has a fantastic insight into how the garden will develop throughout the seasons and the years. She is visionary and is able to clearly articulate the vision and inspire. She truly loves what she does and this is very evident. We continue to work together to tweak aspects of the garden to create fresh interest and I always look forward to her visits. Christine is an absolute pleasure to work with and she has created a garden that still thrills me 5 years on.”
“Christine was extremely efficient organised and professional to work with. Her background as an architect was a huge benefit. Christines’ great knowledge of plants, how they work together, and how to integrate them into her design was superb. She had a very sensitive approach when listening to our ideas. She also cleverly reflected them in her design. Her guidance during the process was invaluable. We couldn’t recommend her highly enough, and we are thrilled with our beautiful garden.”
”Christine very skillfully put together a design that took into account the plants that we wanted to keep, and included new small trees, shrubs, and perennials, that would blend in well with those we wanted to retain. She also sourced, delivered, and did the planting according to the plan.
”Christine was a delight to work with. Although we had never commissioned this type of work before she took our loose brief and surpassed our expectations. She was extremely organised, easy to work with and gave great advice and insight throughout the project. We would not hesitate in recommending her and have happily passed on her number to friends who were blown away with the garden when they saw it.”
“I highly recommend Greenardendesign. Christine was professional in all aspects of the job, very easy to work with and gave me so many ideas which I was so grateful for, being clueless with gardening. The end result was superb and she achieved everything that she had promised. I thoroughly recommend Greenardendesign for professionalism and guarantee one would not be disappointed with the end result.”
“A background in architecture was what first drew us to Christine of Greenardendesign. She listened to what we wanted to achieve with our garden and her skills and knowledge have created a beautiful living space that gives great us pleasure every day. Christine has excellent attention to detail and is very professional. She is also very approachable and easy to get along with. We would have no hesitation in recommending her.”
